Roman Minin "Miner's Surf"
Transport for information seekers navigating the sea of information.
The plastic aesthetic of the monument is evocative of a fire, a tree, a boat or a surfboard for riding the waves. Metaphysically speaking, this shape is an especially effective symbol of a portal between worlds. The material of the surfboard is obviously unfit for riding the waves, and this contradiction underscores the hyperrealist nature of the concept as an allegory of a personal utopia.
These “portals” make poets, artists, outcasts and other “miners of their inner depths” visible in the material world, lending them weight and importance.
Those who manage to ride the surfboard in their imagination will receive an interesting existential experience.
