While not necessarily changing reality as such, a philosophical perspective may offer up an alternative to it. There have been cases when famous artists created alternative national emblems or anthems. The composition of The Ukrainian Mantra is, it seems, an alternative symbol of Ukraine. The artist has found the music for the anthem consisting of simple words inscribed in the composition: “From the East to the West, Ukraine is the best. All must know that Ukraine is the best.”

When you have a lot to say, start with the most essential parts. Repeat the essence over and over again until everybody has heard it. The words that fit the mould of our perception get etched into our memory like a prayer or a mantra.

Slowly yet inevitably, the incantation will shape public opinion, changing our future to fit the lines of this simple song.

Obviously, each country believes in its own superiority. It’s normal. Healthy and friendly competition facilitates developments in art, sciences and sport around the globe.

Ukraine’s blossoming would be a striking example of positive positioning within the global community, made possible by active harnessing of the creative potential of contemporary art.
